Martin Costello of Californiaís East Bay MUD is Elected to ITAís Board

†††††††††† † artin Costello, Plant Instrument Maintenance Supervisor for the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) in
Oakland, California, was elected to ITAís Board of Directors.

†††† Martin brings with him more than thirty years of experience in instrumentation and controls.  Originally from Ireland, Martin began his career by completing a four-year Instrument Technician apprenticeship. After immigrating to the US he worked in the oil refining industry, initially as an Instrument Technician, and later as an Instrument Supervisor managing a crew of nine Technicians.

†††† Martin has also worked at NASAís Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California, where he managed a team in the design, programming and installation of wind tunnel control systems.  Most recently Martin worked in Johnson and Johnsonís pharmaceutical division where he led a team designing, programming and implementing control systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.

†††† At East Bay MUD, Martin has the responsibility for the maintenance of instrumentation installed at EBMUD's six water treatment plants and distribution system (accumulative distribution flow of more than 375 million gallons of treated water daily) and at EBMUDís wastewater treatment system that serves approximately 650,000 people in an 88-square-mile area along the east shore of San Francisco Bay and has an average annual flow of 75 million gallons per day (MGD). EBMUDís wastewater treatment system provides primary treatment for up to 320 MGD secondary treatment for a maximum flow of 168 MGD and has storage basins that can provide plant capacity for a short-term hydraulic peak of 415 MGD.†

†††† Martin immigrated to the United States in 1986 and has made the Bay Area his home since 1992.  He currently lives in Fremont with his wife and 12-year-old son, and spends his free time helping out with his sonís baseball and basketball leagues, and serves on the Board of his sonís Little League.† Please join in welcoming Martin Costello to ITAís Board of Directors.
